Mepham kickline takes home top national honors

The Mepham High School varsity kickline team recently returned from the 2012 National Dance Alliance National Championship in Orlando, Fla., at which the squad placed second in the Small Varsity Jazz and third in the Large Varsity Pom divisions. In addition, the team won awards for Superior Showmanship and Innovative Choreography. The choreography award is especially significant for the team because it does all its own choreography. Almost all of the other schools in the competition hire professional choreographers. The team also continued its reign as Long Island Champions in this year’s Scholastic Kickline Championship. This is the fourth straight year, and the sixth time in the past seven years, that the team has received the award.
