Merrick Eagle candidate lends a hand at town preserve

Posted

Eagle Scout candidate Hunter McConnell of Merrick was recently recognized by the Town of Hempstead for his service project at the town’s Norman J. Levy Park and Preserve in his hometown. McConnell built a wooden shelter for the Nigerian dwarf goats that live at the preserve and keep weeds under control by eating them. Joining McConnell were Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray, second from right, Councilwoman Angie Cullin, left, and Clerk Mark Bonilla. The Eagle Scout is Boy Scouts’ highest honor.
