Merrick Williamsport team grabs District 31 title

The Merrick Madness, a.k.a. Merrick’s Williamsport softball team, are: Kacie Badolato, Nicole Imhof, Meredith Jones, Samantha Klein, Joanna Marmo, Jessica Mascia, Missy Mavrogian, Kelly Rasulo, Carly Steffen, Cora Travaglione, Jordan Walley and Sydney Yormack. The Madness Coaches are: Maria Imhof, Cliff Rasulo, Rob Mascia and their best friend, Rachel Barry.

Merrick’s 12-year-old Williamsport softball team batted, pitched and fielded its way to the District 31 Championship in a nail-biter of a game on July 11.
Merrick beat Seaford 6-5 to take the district title. The squad, dubbed "Merrick Madness," earned a spot in the finals by beating North Bellmore-North Merrick 10-0, Bellmore 6-0 and Seaford 11-1 in the first round of play. The wins kept Merrick in the winners bracket and sent the team to the finals.
Merrick’s next challenge will be the Long Island Section 6 Tournament on July 14, with the winner advancing to the New York State Tournament.
