Police: Man arrested for drunk driving

State Police arrested Arthur Myers, 67, of Staten Island, on Aug. 29 and charged him with drunk driving.

At 5:45 p.m., a state trooper stopped a vehicle for no brake lights and cell phone use on the westbound side of the Southern State Parkway near Exit 24 (Merrick Avenue)

During the traffic stop, Myers exited his vehicle several times and became combative towards the trooper, State Police say. The trooper detected the odor of alcohol, and eventually took Myers into custody.

According to police, Myers had a blood alcohol level of .13. He was charged with DWI, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and traffic violations.

Myers was arraigned in Nassau County 1st District Court on Aug. 30.
