Police: Suspicious man asks teen to get in car

Posted

A 14-year-old girl was walking on Doris Place at the corner of Gormley Avenue at 6:05 p.m. on May 19, when she was approached by a man she described as in his late 20s in a black, late-model Jeep with new blue-and-yellow New York license plates. The man asked her if she was lost and told her several times to get in his car, police said.

The girl pulled out her cell phone, and the man yelled an expletive and drove away westbound on Gormley Avenue, according to a police report.

The suspect was described as black, clean shaven, balding and wearing a blue T-shirt at the time of the incident.

A police spokesman said there have been several reports of men approaching teenage girls in cars, but the incidents are not necessarily related.

Police ask anyone with information about this incident or a similar occurrence call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
