Three local teenagers were the victims of an apparent attempted robbery in Merrick this past Sunday, Nassau County Police say.
The incident occurred on Feb. 27 at 4:40 p.m., according to police. Authorities said the three 15-year-old males were walking on Yale Road when they were approached by two older teens. One wielded a wooden bat and demanded that the three 15-year-olds hand over their iPhones. The victims ran to a nearby home while the two suspects fled westbound on Yale Road. No injuries were reported.
Police described the suspects as Hispanic and about 18 years old. One was about 5-foot-6, and wore a red, hooded sweatshirt, glasses and a dark-blue ski cap. The other was about 5-foot-7, and wore a black jacket, white shirt and blue jeans.
