Relay for Life raises $48K for cancer research

Posted

The annual Bellmore-Merrick American Cancer Society Relay for Life took place on May 21 at Merrick Road Park. In total, 325 people participated in relay, and the event raised more than $48,000.

The Relay For Life gives people in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost to the disease and fight back against this scourge.

“It’s an amazing event,” said Paul Gruol, a Merrick resident and member of the American Cancer Society. “Despite the fact that it rained, it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits. The community is wonderful.”
