Sacred Heart celebrates Catholic Schools Week

Posted

Sacred Heart Elementary School in North Merrick marked Catholic Schools Week from Jan. 28 to Feb. 4 with activities and games to instill school pride in students.

Tuesday was Student Appreciation Day, and Wednesday was Teacher Appreciation Day. Spirit Day was held on Thursday, and students flooded the gymnasium to compete against one another in an assortment of races and contests. Crazy Hat Day capped the week on Friday.

"The whole week was a tremendous success," said Principal Kerry Kahn. The students gain “a sense of community with each other… and how big a part they are of the school community and the Merrick community. They just enjoy being together. We're a family within a family."
