Hempstead Town Councilman Anthony Santino will bid goodbye to Baldwin in January when a new council district map goes into effect. The new map, which has inspired considerable debate, was drawn up in response to census data that is collected every 10 years.

Santino announced that he would no longer represent Baldwin at a South Hempstead/Baldwin Town Hall meeting last week. He noted at the same meeting that he would continue to serve in South Hempstead.

Taking over Santino’s duties in respect to Baldwin will be Councilwoman Angie Cullin, 5th District Council Member and a resident of Freeport. Cullin, a republican, was first elected to the council in 2001, and won re-election in 2003, 2007 and 2011.

Cullin began her political career as the first female to serve as Town of Hempstead Receiver of Taxes. She was appointed to the position in 1993 and was subsequently re-elected to the same post. Cullin is a former Freeport Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year and has worked extensively with the American Cancer Society and the Freeport Police Benevolent Association. Cullin has four sons: Thomas, Jeffrey, Patrick and the late Richard. Her office telephone number is (516) 812-3285. Her Town of Hempstead email address is acullin@tohmail.org.
