Posted

Representatives from the New York State Public Service Commission, the agency that regulates the state’s utilities, including electric, gas, steam, telecommunications and water services, will speak at tonight’s meeting of the North and Central Merrick Civic Association concerning the transition of Long Island electrical system’s operation from National Grid to PSEG Long Island. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. tonight at the North Merrick Public Library, at 1691 Meadowbrook Road.

NCMCA invited the Public Service Commission representatives to discuss the practical impacts of the change on electricity customers and the Commission’s role in overseeing utilities on Long Island, from electric rates to preparations for and responses to storms and other emergencies, customer rights and resolution of customer complaints. There will be a question-and-answer session.

An officer from the Nassau County Police Department’s First Precinct will also provide an update about crime in the area, and NCMCA President Claudia Borecky will give a brief update on other community issues.

The public is welcome to attend. More information is available by calling Borecky at (516) 972-6988 or emailing her at claudiaborecky@gmail.com.
