Stop & Shop revises plans –– again

Posted

The Stop & Shop Company has once again modified plans to expand its store in the Merrick Mall in downtown Merrick, according to Barry Fox, president of the Merrick Park Home Owners Association.

In its newest plan, which Fox has obtained, Stop & Shop would cut $3 million from its budget. The company is scheduled to present new blueprints at a Town of Hempstead hearing on Oct. 27. The company is not scheduled to begin construction until September 2011.

Since 2006, Stop & Shop has made 10 revisions to its plans, the last of which occurred this past February when the building's footprint was reworked

Despite phone calls, a representative of the Stop & Shop Company did not return calls for comment at press time.
