Sun shines on Strawberry Festival

Posted

The Bellmore Kiwanis and Lions clubs co-hosted the 23rd annual Nassau County Strawberry Festival this past week. Residents from across the county traveled to the BOCES school on Jerusalem Avenue in North Bellmore to enjoy the festivities, which kicked off June 1.

The festival provided attendees with rides, games, vendors, live music, a Green Expo and, of course, strawberries. The weather was beautiful all week, allowing participants to enjoy the festivities. Children and parents alike enjoyed games and rides provided by Blue Sky Amusements and Entertainment.

Former “American Idol” contestant and Merrick singing sensation Robbie Rosen performed for fans and the crowd on Sunday. He was also on hand to sign autographs.

Many volunteers turned out to help with the event. Members from Kennedy and Mepham’s Key Clubs as well as various local PTAs helped serve strawberry drinks and foods.

All proceeds raised at the event will go to benefit charities supported by the Kiwanis and Lions clubs.
