Return to the golden age of radio when the Gilbert and Sullivan Light Opera Company presents “Radio Nights: The Big Broadcast of 2011,” Saturday, April 9, at 8 p.m.

The South Shore Syncopators, Long Island’s renowned 1920s-1930s dance orchestra, teams up with vocalists from the Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Company of Long Island for a program of great music from 1925-1935. Featuring songs made famous by Eddie Cantor, Al Jolson, Paul Whiteman, the Boswell Sisters, and others, the 10-piece dance orchestra is joined by vocalists and an authentic ‘radio announcer’ for an evening of music, comedic banter and hot jazz. Presented in the “you-are-there” atmosphere of a 1930 radio broadcast, this program will enable the audience to travel back in time to see what the ‘20s and ‘30s really sounded like.

Tickets are $25, which includes coffee and refreshments. All proceeds benefit the Gilbert and Sullivan Light Opera Company. Tickets are available at (516) 795-7745 or www.gilbertandsullivanli.com.
