Trio charged with robbing AT&T store

Nassau County Police arrested and charged three men with robbing $30,000 worth of merchandise from the AT&T store on Sunrise Highway in Merrick on July 2, officials said.

According to police, Daytona Goodwin, 21, Erick Perez, 22, and Luis Umpierre, 22, all of Brooklyn, entered the store at about 3 p.m. and held three store employees at gunpoint while they swiped merchandise from a stock room. The trio then fled in a white vehicle. An officer spotted the suspects nearby, and they were taken into custody. No injuries were reported.

Goodwin, Perez and Umpierre were charged with first- and second-degree robbery, criminal use of a firearm in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. They were arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on July 3.
