Two Merrick Verizon stores robbed in two weeks

For the second time in two weeks, a Verizon Wireless store in Merrick has been burglarized, according to Nassau County police.

On Sunday, Aug. 1, police say, two men broke the front glass door of a Verizon Wireless store on Merrick Road with a brick. The suspects stole an unknown number of cell phones and tablet devices, and ran off westbound on Merrick Road.

Police say that one of the men is thin, and wore a black, hooded sweatshirt, a dark baseball cap, black pants with a white vertical stripe and black sneakers. The second man, who was also thin, wore a light-colored, hooded sweatshirt, black pants, white sneakers and a black knapsack.

A different Verizon Wireless store, on Sunrise Highway in Merrick, was burglarized on July 31. The burglary, which happened at 1:55 a.m., was committed by three men, police say.

According to police, the trio, donning hooded sweatshirts, broke into the store and stole cell phones and assorted electronic devices before running off.
