Posted

Two vehicles collided near the intersection of Merrick Road and Lincoln Boulevard in Merrick at about 10:30 p.m. on June 23. Multiple people were involved in the crash and taken by ambulances to area hospitals.

One of the vehicles, a black sedan, came to a rest in a plant bed outside the First National Bank of New York, located at the southeast corner of Merrick Road and Lincoln Boulevard.

Merrick firefighters extricated a person trapped inside his car, according to Merrick Fire Department spokesman Ron Luparello. A department ambulance transported at least one person to a hospital, as did a Nassau Police Department ambulance. A team of trauma specialists at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow tended to one of these patient’s injuries, which Luparello described as “significant, but not life-threatening.”

County police would provide no additional information.
