Holiday Fun
Turkeys, Pies And Other Good Things...
If you missed it last weekend, there’s still time to experience a traditional Thanksgiving as it was celebrated in the 19th century, during Old Bethpage Village Restoration’s annual event. Old fashioned wood burning stoves, beehive ovens and hearths are bfired up to prepare a variety of foods and baked goods, using historical recipes. A fat turkey is spitted and roasted, with a demonstration of food preservation methods, musical entertainment and children’s activities.
Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 28-29, 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. $10 adults; $7 children 4-14 and seniors. Round Swamp Road, Old Bethpage. (516) 572-8400.
