Owl Prowl
Get up close and personal with those mysterious creatures of the night, presented by Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary and Audubon Center. Owls, the stealth, silent hunters of the night, have become an integral part of myths, legends and popular entertainment. Discover what fascinating creatures they actually are at a live owl presentation. Then venture outside to hear calls of Great Horned and Eastern Screech Owls.

Holiday Bird Watching
Take a break from that holiday shopping and commune with our feathered friends on special guided hike through Muttontown Preserve. Enjoy the season’s beauty on a two-hour nature walk where you’ll have an opportunity to observe such cold weather birds as woodpeckers, hawks, nuthatches, and brown creepers.
Sunday, Dec, 13, 9-11 a.m. Enrollment is limited and registration is required. Dress appropriately for the weather and bring binoculars. Walk begins at Bill Paterson Nature Center, Muttontown Preserve, Muttontown La., East Norwich. (516) 571-8500.

Irish Culture Meets Pop Culture
One hundred of years of Irish culture meets American popular culture in a program sponsored by Molloy College’s Irish Studies Institute. Take a look at Thomas Nast’s Irish cartoons and their influence on early American cartoons, Irish stage plays and songs, then move on to Irish folk music and its influence on Dylan and the American folk scene, Samuel Beckett’s influence on Seinfeld, and Bono’s impact on what it means to be an American today,
