Across Time & Place: Treasures from the Permanent Collection
This rotating exhibition highlights a broad range of works by 19th and 20th century American and European artists from the Heckscher Museum’s Permanent Collection. Of particular interest is Étienne Berne-Bellecour’s monumental Embarkation Maneuver, 1882, which factually depicts the departure of a regiment of cuirassiers following the Franco-Prussian War. The “Iranian Schindler”
An exhibit of photograhs and artifacts honoring Abdol-Hossein Sardari, the Iranian envoy stationed in Paris who rescued thousands of Jews from the Nazis in parallel fashion to the famous rescue efforts of Oskar Schindler in Poland. Political Slant: Editorial Cartoons
Original sketches and digital prints of contemporary cartoons by five editorial cartoonists: Walt Handelsman of Newsday, Mike Keefe, Steve Kelley, Jimmy Margulies of The Record (North New Jersey) and Signe Wilkinson of the Philadelphia Daily News. Toward Greater Awareness: Darfur and American Activism
This exhibit, featuring large-scale sculptures by American artist Mitch Lewis, focuses on the genocide that occurred in Darfur and Sudan from 2003 to 2006, as well as the American response to the crisis.
