Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced a statewide Ebola plan on Oct. 16 that called for the coordination of health care, Port Authority and Metropolitan Transportation Authority workers to combat a potential spread of the Ebola virus should it cross New York’s borders. New York State Senate candidate Michael Venditto, a Republican from Massapequa, is running for the 8th Senate District seat vacated by Charles Fuschillo Jr., a Merrick Republican, in January. Tom Cutinella, a football player in Shoreham-Wading River High School, died after a game last week. Cutinella, 16, had blocked a player from John H. Glenn High School during an Oct. 1 game. He collided with the opposing player and collapsed soon afterward. Cutinella died at Huntington Hospital a few hours later. more
