Oceanside Student named Intel Science Semifinalist

17 year old Eric Riesel of Oceanside High School has been named a semifinalist in the prestigious Intel Science Talent Search. Eric's project was in the Bioinformatics and Genomics field. His research centered on Genome-Scale Identification of Regulatory Networks Through Modular Response Analysis of LINCS L1000 Data.

Each semifinalist wins $1,000, plus an equal amount for his or her school. Forty finalists, to be chosen Jan. 21, will receive an additional $7,500 and a chance to vie for national prizes during finals judging to be held in Washington, D.C., from March 5-11.
