A fire broke out in a residential garage on Waukena Avenue in Oceanside March 20, quickly spreading to the adjacent home. Luckily, none of the four people at home at the time were injured by the fire. Two firefighters were brought to the hospital with minor injuries, and were quickly treated and released.

A spokesman for the Oceanside fire department said that the blaze broke out just before midnight last Saturday. It took the department, aided by firefighters from Baldwin, Freeport, Rockville Centre, East Rockaway and Long Beach about an hour to bring the blaze under control. The spokesman said the fire destroyed the garage and a car parked inside, and caused significant structural damage to the house.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshall's Office.
