A couple who left Oceanside in mid-December with their young son to make a new life in Georgia have been accused by officials in that state of killing the two-year-old, sources in the southern state said.

Georgia State Police say that Elizabeth Calvo, 21, and her boyfriend Adam Garber, 25, were arrested Dec. 19 and charged with felony murder and child cruelty in the Dec. 22 death of Aiden, 2, and are blaming each other for the child’s death. Aiden’s skull was broken and he had bite marks and bruises on his body, according to local Georgia news reports.

Sources say that Calvo and Garber left Oceanside by car to relocate to Georgia with Aiden and Calvo’s 5-year-old son just days before Aiden was hospitalized with severe injures. He died a few days later. Calvo wanted to move to Georgia to be close to family members living there, reports say.

According to online court records, Adam Garber pleaded guilty in 2010 in Nassau to felony charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance, forgery and a misdemeanor charge of criminal possession of stolen property. He was sentenced to 2 years in prison. In 2009, Garber pleaded guilty in Nassau to attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 28 hours of community service, court records show.

Georgia officials say that there is no timeline for the arraignment of the couple.
