Island Park Chamber of Commerce Treasurer Jan Rothman dies

Longtime Island Park resident Jan Rothman has died, according to an announcement by the Island Park Chamber of Commerce that was released Tuesday.

Rothman was a resident of Island Park for more than 40 years and was elected to serve as the Chamber of Commerce treasurer last January. He also served as the treasurer of the South Shore Jewish Center.

"It is with deep sorrow that we inform you of the passing of our Treasurer Jan Scott Rothman," the Island Park Chamber of Commerce said in a release.

Funeral services for Rothman are scheduled for Dec. 19 at 10 a.m. at the South Shore Jewish Center, 191 Long Beach Road in Island Park. Interment will follow at the United Hebrew Cemetery, 122 Arthur Kill Road in Staten Island. 

Shiva services were scheduled for the Rothman home, 154 McKinley Ave., in Island Park from 2 to 5:30 p.m. and 7 to 9:30 p.m, with minyans at 7 p.m. Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, and 8 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Rothman is survived by his wife, Debra, and children, Robin and Josh.
