On April 7, the students at Oceanside’s School 3 elementary school put on their musical, which this year was “The Lion King.”
The musical, under the direction of Mary Cassagnol, complete with colorful costumes and equally colorful music, is based on the Disney movie of the same name. The show is a retelling of Shakespeare’s Hamlet and follows the lion prince Simba as his uncle, Scar, convinces him to run away from their kingdom after the death of Simba’s father, Mufasa. Eventually, Simba returns home and retakes his rightful throne from his evil uncle.
