Overcast Oceanside Fire Department puts out bakery fire

The Oceanside Fire Department responded to a call of smoke coming from the Whistle Stop Bakery, on Lawson Boulevard.

The Island Park Fire Department also responded to the call, aiding the Oceanside Fire Department.

On June 19, the Oceanside Fire Department responded to 3436 Lawson Blvd. for a report of smoke coming from the roof. Upon arrival, the signal for a working fire was transmitted. The fire was brought under control within a half hour and all operations were under the command of Chief Thomas Bettes. The fire is under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshals Office. The Oceanside Fire Department was assisted by the Baldwin, Island Park, and Long Beach Fire Departments.
