Oceanside High School’s 2017 Homecoming parade keeps with tradition

Continuing a more than 50-year tradition, Oceanside High School students took to the streets on Oct. 7 for the annual Homecoming Parade.

Hundreds of participants marched as each class manned their custom-themed floats. The floats constitute one of the opening volleys of OHS’ annual Battle of the Classes, a competition with roots dating back to 1984.

The themes are voted on and selected by members of each grade and carry through to January, when the winners are selected.

OHS Seniors nominated and selected the 2017’s Homecoming Court made up of, King Justin Sguera, Queen Ally Walsh, Prince Carmine Elvezio and Princess Toni-Ann Mugnai.

World War II veteran Pfc. Milton Seitman was this year’s Homecoming honoree.
