Seeing green: Hofstra's Irish Festival

Get into the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day at Hofstra University’s 13th annual salute to all things Irish, on Sunday, March 13, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. You don’t have to be from the Old Country to join the hooley and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in true Irish style! Enjoy music and dance performances throughout the day, along with craft exhibits and Irish cuisine to sample.

This year’s festival features Girsa, an eight member all-female traditional band; the Black Velvet Band; the always popular Hirten Family Irish Dancers; along with Katie’s Puppets, The Amazing Fred Collins, and others. Tony Jackson, of Hofstra’s WRHU (88.7 FM) serves as guest master of ceremonies.

Admission is $5, $3 for seniors. Hofstra students with a current HofstraCard and children under 12 are free. Proceeds benefit the Hofstra Scholarship Fund.
