Stepping out at Hofstra's Fall Dance Concert

Hofstra University’s Dance Program is ready to swing at this year’s Fall Dance Concert, Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 17-20.

Guest artist Cathy Young, a choreographer and jazz dance scholar, restages her 2010 piece, Flash/Back. It’s a bouyant, uplifting piece, with a musical score referencing 1960s cool jazz and 1940s swing. The movement is inspired by high-energy vernacular dances of the past, including the Charleston and Lindy Hop. Also on the program are works choreographed by Hofstra faculty members Giada Ferrone, Niles Ford, Amy Marshall, Maxine Steinman, and Karla Wolfangle.
