At a time when our communities are grappling with numerous challenges, the proposed state Executive Budget’s significant decrease in the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program, also known as CHIPS, demands immediate attention, or the shouting at potholes will get worse.

It's spring — at least as far as meteorologists are concerned. But that doesn't mean winter storms are out of fashion. Long Island is bracing for a nor'easter storm rolling in beginning Monday evening and through Tuesday that is expected to bring with it high winds and lots of rain. And it could make any travel a bit of a headache over the next couple days.

Essentially calling the opening of Grand Central Madison in New York's Upper East Side an ongoing process. Gov. Kathy Hochul ordered the Metropolitan Transportation Authority on Sunday to not only add Long Island Rail Road trains to Brooklyn during peak hours, but also to lengthen cars on a number of trains that exceeded capacity over the last week.
