Cyclones break in the new turf

After hitting the road for its first four games of 2014, South Side High School’s football team played for the first time on its brand new turf field on Oct. 11.

The field was completed at the end of September, as well as the new track surrounding it. It was the first major project to be completed as part of the district’s $45.9 million bond.

Due to ongoing construction at the high school, only half of the field has seating. But it’s still a prime place to enjoy games with the school’s new field and lighting system.

After traveling to Floral Park this week, South Side will play its homecoming game on Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. against Great Neck North.
