Vote for Rubino
To the Editor:
I urge my fellow Rockville Centre residents to vote for Lynda Rubino in the school board election on Tuesday, May 21.
I’ve known Lynda and her family for many years and have always been impressed with her abilities. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a caring member of our community.
Given the economic climate we find ourselves in, fiscal transparency is essential in all endeavors. Mayor Francis Murray and our village trustees have delivered in local government. We can expect the same from Ms. Rubino when she sits on our school board.
Please vote for Lynda on May 21. I know that our school district will be well served by her.

Rubino for school board
To the Editor:
We write to voice our enthusiastic support for Lynda Rubino for Rockville Centre school board, and ask our fellow residents to vote for her on Tuesday, May 21.
Five years after the economic crisis of 2008, the RVC school board has proposed a school budget that will, for the first time, exceed $100 million. As recently as 2003, the school budget totaled $67 million for roughly the same number of students. The $100 million budget proposal arrives a mere three months after passage of a $46 million bond to repair school infrastructure and add a turf field to SSHS.
RVC residents pay some of the highest property taxes in the nation, and the school tax portion is almost 70 percent of that total bill. Even with the recently enacted New York state tax cap, the rise in school taxes shows no signs of abating, threatening the ability of young people to afford their first house and our seniors to remain in the village in which they raised their families.
As parents with children in the RVC schools, we believe that an effective school board member must know how to balance what’s best for our children with fiscal responsibility to taxpayers, and have a willingness and ability to collaborate, to debate tough issues honestly and to be held accountable to all constituencies of the school district. The candidate best suited to accomplish all of this is Lynda Rubino.
