The Rec Center will be the site of the Rockville Centre Parks and Recreation Department's Annual Holiday Crafts Fair and Flea Market on Sunday, Dec. 2. There will be a large assortment of merchandise for your shopping pleasure. The fair will open to the public from 9:30 am to 4 a.m. and there will be free parking and free admission. Rockville Centre will hold its annual Holiday Tree lighting at the Village Green on Thursday Dec. 6 at 7:30. The annual menorah lighting will be held at Central Synagogue on Dec. 12 at 6 p.m.
Leggz Ltd. Dance to perform Nutcracker ballet
Leggz Ltd. Dance and the Rockville Centre Guild For The Arts is preparing to perform a full-length production of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker from Dec. 7 to 9. The ballet is the only full-length Nutcracker on Long Island and will feature live music from the 70-piece, South Shore Symphony Orchestra. Performing as the Sugar Plum Fairy is Rockville Centre resident Kathleen Breen Combes, who is a principal dancer with the Boston ballet. The production will also feature principal dancers from the Washington Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, the Joffrey Ballet, Suzanne Farrell, Mark Morris, New York City Opera, Atlanta Ballet, Alvin Ailey, SanFrancisco Ballet, Carolina Ballet, Morphoses, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Broadway's Movin’ Out and Jerome Robbins Broadway. This Nutcracker will also feature more than 100 young dancers from the greater metropolitan area.
The performances will be held on Friday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8 at 5 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 9 at 4 p.m. Tickets for the Nutcracker are $24 and $22 for those over 65 or under 12.
