Village prepares to flush hydrants

Posted

Rockville Centre Village water mains will be given their spring-cleaning beginning Wednesday, April 23 through Tuesday, April 29.

The flushing of hydrants may cause some fluctuation of water pressure and/or discolored (rusty) water to flow into homes and businesses. Though this water is perfectly safe to drink, it may stain laundry. Consumers are advised not to schedule projects which require clear water during the entire flushing period. The water will be both chemically and bacteriologically safe to drink. The schedule is:

Wed., April 23, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

North of DeMott Avenue and lying between North Village Avenue to end of east territory.

Thurs., April 24, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Area lying between Lakeview Avenue and DeMott Avenue, west of Long Beach Road.

Fri., April 25, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Area lying between Sunrise Highway and DeMott Avenue east of Long Beach Road.

Sun., April 27, between midnight and 8 a.m.

Entire area lying between Lakeview Avenue and Merrick Road.

Tues., April 29, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
