Visiting Rockettes share their passion with Rockville Centre dancers

Before they get into high gear for another year of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, two Rockettes — Stacey Sund and Tara Dunleavy — visited Miss Colleen’s Elite Dancentre on Sept. 25 to teach a master dance class and answer questions from aspiring dance students. The studio, at 40 Maple Ave., won the opportunity through a contest on the Rockette’s Facebook page in which fans nationwide voted for their favorite dance school.

In honor of the Rockette’s 85th year of performing in New York, Miss Colleen’s ,students were treated to a look at the past, present and future of the iconic dance company with a vintage costume showcase featuring their famed costume designs. The costumes embody the unparalleled style and classic glamour that has made the Rockettes a part of the fabric of New York City for the past 85 years.

Performances of the 2012 Christmas Spectacular, “The Rockettes Celebration!” will begin on Nov. 9 and run through Dec. 30 at Radio City Music Hall.
