Absentee ballots to be used in the election of trustees for the Rockville Centre Union Free School District Board of Education and the Rockville Centre Library Board and on the School District and Library budget vote to be held on Tuesday, May 20, are now available.

People are eligible to use an absentee ballot if they are unable to appear due to illness or disability; outside the county due to ordinary duties, occupation or business; outside the county due to special circumstances not usual to duties, occupation, business or studies; vacation; and if they are detained or confined in jail or prison. A spouse, parent or child accompanying the voter entitled to an absentee ballot is also entitled to an absentee ballot.

An application for an absentee ballot may be obtained at the School District Office, located at 128 Shepherd Street in Rockville Centre, by calling (516) 255-8921, or may be downloaded from the district’s website, www.rvcschools.org

An absentee ballot may be used this year for voting in the election for two School Board members, one Library Trustee, and voting on the school and library budgets.

For a ballot to be mailed to the eligible voter, the application must be received by the district clerk at least seven days before the election. An application may also be picked up in person in the office of the district clerk no later than the day before the election. The ballot itself must be received in the office of the district clerk by 5 p.m. on May 20, the day of the election.
