Bomb threat called into Molloy College

Shuts down campus for 90 minutes; no one hurt

A bomb threat called into Molloy College this afternoon shut down the campus for 90 minutes.

“We received an anonymous call indicating that there was a bomb threat to an unspecified Molloy building,” said Ken Young, the Molloy College director of public relations. “We evacuated all the buildings and contacted both Rockville Centre and Nassau County Police.”

The call was placed to the school at about 2 p.m. Both police departments responded, and the NCPD brought a bomb-sniffing dog. No one was allowed back into the buildings until they were inspected by the county police and determined to be safe.

Campus activities resumed about 90 minutes later when people were allowed back in the buildings at about 3:30 p.m.

“It was an orderly evacuation,” Young said. “It pretty much went as you would expect for something like that.”
