Celebrating excellence in Rockville Centre

It was an evening of celebration on May 26 as 20 Rockville Centre teachers and administrators were recognized for their appointment to tenure at the regular Board of Education meeting that was held in South Side High School’s cafeteria.

Teachers receiving tenure included Tara Algerio-Vento, Elizabeth Bacchi, Nicole Bannick, Dr. Josephine Bishop, William Busch, Amy Curley, Keith Eckert, Joseph Gallina, Nicole Gigante, Karen Ann LaPorte, Victor Lee, Elizabeth Marshall, Megan O’Brien, Joseph Saccone, Adrienne Solof, Jennifer Sullivan and Shaun Volpe. Three administrators were also recognized for tenure: Orly Gadon, Jennifer Pascarella and Christopher Pellettieri. And nearly 40 teachers were publicly and individually thanked for their service as mentors to new teachers in the district.

“Tenure is a milestone for professionals who work in the school district,” said Rockville Centre school Superintendent Dr. William Johnson. “For us it’s an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the excellence of those who work in our schools. Probation is like an engagement and tenure is like the wedding."
