A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with a burglary in the Greystone area last week, and a Rockville Centre police spokesman said that another man is still being sought.

Cops nabbed the first suspect, Nishon Parson, 36, of Fulton Street in Hempstead, on Nov. 29, after a neighbor spotted two suspicious-looking men in the backyard of an unoccupied house at 212 Seaman Ave. and called village police. Responding officers found Parson in the shed of a nearby home, and arrested him after an hour-long chase on foot during which they were joined by the Aviation Unit of the Nassau County Police Department.

A second suspect, Pamela A. Scales, 27, of Roosevelt, was arrested on Dec. 2 in Hempstead.

Parson was charged with second-degree burglary and criminal trespass, and Scales was charged with second-degree burglary, according to the police spokesman.

Matt Barthel, who lives on Intervale, described a feeling of anxiety, and common purpose, among his neighbors. “It’s a pretty tight group of people in the neighborhood here,” Barthel said, “and we’ve had some incidents over the summer … and into recent months, where we’ve noticed cars parked on the street at night with people in them who presumably are not from the area. We notified the police, and they did a great job of responding to that, sending cruisers by and issuing summonses …”

Barthel said he is part of a neighborhood email chain that has grown dramatically since it was started by a neighbor after a Nov. 15 burglary on his block. The emails, many of which are received on smartphones, have been extremely helpful in informing area residents that they need to be aware that something is going on, and Barthel said they have also helped residents piece information and events together well before they read official accounts in the media.

After a few people were added to the email group on the day of the more recent burglary, Barthel said, one of them said he had noticed three people in a beat-up-looking car on his block recently, and told police. Barthel added that people with home security cameras have been assisting police in the investigation.
