The Iroquois District of the Theodore Roosevelt Council, Boy Scouts of America had its annual Camporee the weekend of May14-16 at Hempstead Lake State Park.

Under beautiful sunny skies, over 500 Boy Scouts and leaders camped and competed in skills events from Friday evening through Sunday noon. On Saturday the Scouts competed in knot competitions, an obstacle course, lashing, and a number of other events. The Scouts also performed a conservation project at the park, providing approximately 800 “person hours” of free labor.

On Saturday afternoon, the troops had a cooking contest. That evening there was a giant council fire. And on Sunday morning there was a cross-country race.
