John Lind, 92

John H. Lind III, 92, died at Franciscan Oaks Health Care Center, in Denville, N.J., on Jan. 25.

Born in New Orleans, John was a resident of Rockville Centre for 60 years. He had lived at Franciscan Oaks for the last four years. A graduate of Villanova University in the class of 1940, he received his master’s degree in Health Administration at C.W. Post University in 1979.

Lind served in the U.S. Army Co. E. 358th Infantry 90th Division during WW II throughout Europe. He was employed as a corporate tax accountant for Penick and Ford for 25 years, and then at Republic Aviation for eight years, retiring from the Nassau County Department of Health 24 years ago.

Lind was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church Mountain Lakes, N.J. the Newman Alumni Association of Long Island, the New Jersey State American Legion, and he was also a member of the 90th Division Association.

Lind is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy (nee Jendras) Lind, his sister-in-law Gloria Lind, and his four nieces — Barbara Nichols, Janice Barley, Patricia Lind and Carol Stone. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Roy and Robert Lind.

His wake and funeral were conducted from Norman Dean Home for Services in Denville. On Jan. 31 at 10 a.m., a Mass of Christian Burial was conducted at St. Catherine of Siena Church of Mountain Lakes, with committal and interment services following at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury.
