Joining the ranks

Marlene and Emil Vyskocil of Rockville Centre celebrated with their grandson, Nicholas Koeberle, who attained the rank of Eagle Scout at a Court of Honor on Feb. 27.

Nicholas, from Boy Scout Troop 56 in Lawyersville, N.Y., earned his rank by planning, designing and directing the construction of a recycling receptacle for the Cobleskill Little League Field/ Dornet Field. The recycling receptacle encourages children and families to recycle within the community. Not only is it helping to preserve the environment, but money from the deposits goes back into the local Little League program.

Nick, the daughter of Tammy Vyskocil-Koeberle, a 1985 graduate from South Side High School, is the second Eagle Scout on that side of the family, following his older brother, Alex. Nick is the great grandson of Julia Maystrik of New Hyde Park. He is a third generation Eagle Scout in the Koeberle family. Nick’s father, Rick Koeberle, his grandfather Frank Koeberle and three uncles all from Palmyra, N.Y. are Eagle Scouts.
