Mercy Medical Center has received another full three-year accreditation and Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission, the nation’s preeminent standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.

“We are very pleased to receive the Joint Commission’s latest recognition of our commitment to patient safety and quality care,” said Dr. Alan D. Guerci, president and CEO of Mercy Medical Center. “We are dedicated to providing the highest level of care and to complying with the Joint Commission’s standards on an ongoing basis.”

Nancy Simmons, Mercy’s executive vice-president, said, “Accreditation by the Joint Commission is part of a continuous process that provides us with insights for maintaining the highest standards in Mercy’s daily operations.”

The accreditation was granted following a four-day on-site audit of patient-care services from October 26-29 and demonstrates Mercy’s compliance with the Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety for both its hospital and behavioral health care services. Mercy has continuously held full accreditation from the Joint Commission since the inception of such recognition more than 40 years ago.
