Long Island Rail Road service restored after man struck by train in Rockville Centre

Long Island Rail Road service has been restored between Rockville Centre and Valley Stream after it had been suspended because a person was struck by a train on Saturday morning.

According to the MTA, an unidentified person was struck on the tracks near the Rockville Centre station at about 7:45 a.m. The person survived and was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for injures, but was responsive and alert. 

"Service has been restored between Rockville Centre and Valley Stream," the LIRR wrote in an email. "Customers can expect residual delays of approximately 15-20 minutes. Earlier, service was suspended after a person was struck by a train near Rockville Centre station."

MTA police are investigating the crash.
