The third annual Halloween Treats For Troops Candy Drive sponsored locally by Dr. Michael J. Rechter of Long Island Dental Excellence collected a total of 1,884 pounds of candy and personal products that were donated by the community — their best year yet. Students, parents and staff at the Wilson, Covert, Hewitt and Riverside schools, and two local businesses — Davis Ethical Pharmacy and U-Haul of Rockville Centre — assisted, as does Soldiers’ Angels, a non-profit organization that helps distribute the treats both generally and to specific soldiers serving abroad.
