Man wounded in Wednesday night shooting in Rockville Centre

A 25-year old man from Freeport was shot in the back Wednesday night in an incident that Rockville Centre police believe may be related to gang activity.

Village officers say they received a call at 10:05 p.m. reporting multiple shots fired in the vicinity of Old Mill Court. During their investigation, police said they located a victim who had been driven to the Mercy Medical Center Emergency Room by a woman, with a baby, in a gray car.

Police said that the man was treated and released from Mercy that evening. Their investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Rockville Centre Police Department at (516) 766-1500. All calls will be kept confidential.
