Salt-water runoff from last week’s snowstorm leaked into an electrical manhole on Centre Avenue on Feb. 12, causing a small explosion that left customers on Village, Centre and Clinton Avenues without power according to Rockville Centre Fire Department spokesman John Mirando. Village officials said that several customers on Sunrise Highway were affected as well. As of 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 13, firefighters and electrical workers were still working on repairs. The village said it anticipates full power to be restored sometime between 6 and 8 p.m.
