Imagine not having a turkey at Thanksgiving dinner. Many families on Long Island were facing that situation last week. That is why Bob Jesberger, the owner of Mid Island Collision, donated 3,000 turkeys to needy families on Nov. 25.

Joined by KJOY radio’s morning team , girl and boy scouts from Rockville Centre, and volunteers, pictured at right, the Mid Island Collision team “dropped” turkeys and handed out canned vegetables and a number of other food items to help recipients from across Long Island make a complete Thanksgiving dinner.

The food drive lasted most of the afternoon. All leftover items were donated by Mid Island to the area’s local homeless shelters and food banks.
