Molloy College has been named a “2010 Best College in the Northeast” by The Princeton Review and the college also earned “Best in the North” recognition from U.S. News and World Report in the Universities—Master’s category.

Both The Princeton Review and U.S. News and World Report provide annual rankings and reviews of colleges that are based on a variety of criteria.

“We chose Molloy College and the other terrific schools we recommended as our “regional best” colleges primarily for their excellent academic programs,” said Robert Frank, The Princeton Review’s vice president of publishing. “We chose the schools based on institutional data we collect from several hundred schools in each region, our visits to schools over the years and the opinions of independent and high school-based college advisors whose recommendations we invite. We also take into account what each school’s customers – their students – report to us about their campus experiences on our 80-question survey.

“These two distinctive honors demonstrate our commitment to providing high-quality, affordable education for our students,” said Dr. Drew Bogner, Molloy College president. “We take great pride in these accomplishments and look forward to building on our success in the year to come.”

The school, an independent Catholic college on Hempstead Avenue, was founded in 1955. Later this month it is scheduled to break ground in an ambitious modernization plan that includes a state-of-the art Public Square and student union building, as well as dormitories, a first for the commuter college.

Molloy serves a student population of nearly 4,000 undergraduates and graduates. Students can earn degrees in a variety of academic programs that include nursing, business, education, social work, criminal justice, music therapy and more.
