Family Fun

Bug Safari
Venture off to Old Westbury Gardens for a ‘safari’ excursion. Hunt elusive grasshoppers, butterflies, predatory insects, and other creepy, crawly creatures throughout the colorful grounds. Be sure to bring a butterfly net and collecting jars for this bugged-out adventure.
Saturday, Aug. 11, noon. Old Westbury Gardens, 71 Old Westbury Rd., Old Westbury. (516) 333-0048 or www.oldwestburygardens.org.

Pinkalicious
This delightful musical romp – based on the much-loved children’s book by Elizabeth and Victoria Kann and presented Plaza Theatrical Productions – will have everyone thinking (and wearing) pink. Pinkalicious Pinkerton, the heroine of this preteen charmer, loves pink, especially pink cupcakes. Her parents warn her not to eat too many of them, but when Pinkalicious does, she turns pink! What to do? Pinkalicious celebrates all things pink while showing that being yourself is best of all.
Saturday, Aug. 11, 11 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m. $12. Long Island Children’s Museum, Museum Row, Garden City. (516) 599-6870 or www.plazatheatrical.com.
